为帮抗击埃博拉 群星计划重录《他们知道这是圣诞节吗？》
埃博拉疫情自2014年2月于西非爆发后，至今已感染逾万人，并夺走近5000人的生命（实际可能更多），而感染率仍在继续增加 。为帮助抗击埃博拉疫情，一群音乐人计划合作再次录制《他们不知道这是圣诞节吗？》(Do They Know It's Christmas)。”
据基督邮报报道，这群音乐人包括 One Direction U2乐团的波诺(Bono)和希妮德·奥康娜(Sinead O'Connor)以及艾德·希兰(Ed Sheeran)、艾丽·高登(Ellie Goulding)、萨姆·史密斯(Sam Smith)、黑夜传说乐团(Underworld)、巴士底乐团(Bastille)和爱尔伯尔乐团(Elbow)等。
创作歌手鲍勃·格尔多夫(Bob Geldof )周一在新闻发布会上宣布了制作歌曲的计划。格尔多夫说，“我们邀请了一些以前和现在的名流之辈，他们表示愿意再次参加聚会。”
早在1984年，英国歌手菲尔柯林斯（Phil Collins）看到新闻中非依索匹亚等地区的人民，长期处于饥荒与营养不良而死亡，遂在圣诞节之前提出构想，由格尔多夫担任召集人，由数十位当红艺人以Band Aid为名共同灌录单曲义卖，将义卖所得援助非洲饥民，单曲《Do they know it's Christmas ?他们知道现在是圣诞节吗？）因此诞生。这张单曲推出后，立即在全世界引起回响，光是英美两地就卖出约三百二十万张。
时隔30年，《他们知道现在是圣诞节吗？》再录制，格尔多夫分享，“30年来，50％的人的生活水平还是维持在每天两美元。1984年，他们都是死于饥饿，但他们死的基本原因是贫穷。我们知道我们可以控制埃博拉疫情，我们有医生、护士、药品和国家制度，我们也有钱。若他们因为贫穷又会再死一次，这根本就不能接受。”
在歌曲中，呼吁的是人们在圣诞时节，张开双臂拥抱世界，在自己欢乐时不忘关心那些在非洲与死亡争战的人们，为他们祷告。
